Photos for March 20 Peace Rally, page 2
1. Two Photos of the Amtrak Station Assembly area, Fayetteville NC
In the left-hand photo, the Amtrak Station is the building straight ahead with the white trim. The roadway in front of it is the entrance/exit from its parking area. The entranceway runs into Hay Street, which is at left. The march will presumably start from some spot in the Amtrak lot, then turn RIGHT onto Hay Street, to proceed up Hay Street to Woodside St., then turn Right on Woodside St to Rowan Park. The total march route is a distance of eight-tenths of a mile. The route is uphill on Hay Street, then downhill on Davidson to the park.

2. Three photos of the park area next to the Amtrak station.
Below left is a park area which adjoins the Amtrak
station area. (The photos in #1 above were taken from this park.)
There is a raised area in the center made of bricks and large stone slabs, which
could perhaps serve as a stage. To make it a stage, however, some kind of
makeshift superstructure, probably of plywood, would be needed, as the bricks
and slabs, while quite solid, are arranged in a decorative pattern that
makes standing and walking difficult. We did not check to see whether power is
easily available there.
Below Center is an overlapping view of this park area, with the Amtrak station to the right. Note that the large square building directly across Hay Street in both photos is the Fayetteville Police Headquarters.
Below right This photo looks from the raised brick area to the right of the Amtrak station, showing more of the assembly area and the available parking, which consists of two adjoining lots, the Amtrak lot and a company lot. The police have told us that both will be available to us. Buses could pull into the company lot to disembark riders, then proceed up Hay Street to the large parking area adjoining Rowan Park, so riders could find their buses up there after the rally, without having to come all the way back to the Amtrak station. There is a mesh fence dividing the two lots, which will likely divide some marchers into two bodies at the beginning of the march.
