The vandalism and other threats were duly reported to the Fayetteville
police, who took them seriously and pledged to protect both the march
and any counter-protests.

But Saturday morning, March 20, dawned sunny, clear and springlike. By the Amtrak station in downtown Fayetteville, marchers and media were soon gathering.

The "Raging Grannies" help fire up the crowd before the march.

The march banners, made by Public Assembly, made the message clear.
